Bethany's Doll…
Pennsylvania
Harrisburg
Harrisburg
Pennsylvania's state capitol
The globes are cut into a diamond shape, creating more light and the unique "x" in the middle of each light.
Gold and white marble are everywhere, including this hallway that leads to the Senate.
The winged statues at the bottom of the grand staircase each hold a cut-crystal ball.
My parents, for a size comparison to the staircase.
The staircase leads to the upper floors. Until elevators were installed, this was the only way to reach the other floors.
Four murals circle the rotunda above the thrid floor.
On the Mezzanine level, these elaborate doors lead to both the Senate and the House, one set on each side of the building.
The entire Mezzanine is ringed with more "x" lights.
The 20 million pound dome over the rotunda, like the rest of the capitol, is modeled after St. Peter's Basillica in Rome.
