Steamtown
Steamtown
No description
Some parts of the roundhouse are open all the time and lead to repair areas
Others, though closed now, can open and lead to display areas for the engines when they aren't in use
A tender from the famed Baldwin Locomotive Works in Philadelphia - kept inside the covered area
Across the way, the Canadian Pacific steam engine that usually pulls the excursion trains is being worked on
Also undegoing restoration here is the #1361 - the last operational K4 in existence - owned by the Altoona Railroaders Museum. Those are parts from it in the foreground
The K4's wheels are in the back, covered by the silver tarps
The #1361's tender being welded - Steamtown is the only place in the country where this work can be done successfully
The #1361's engine with a new fire box
