The Lincoln Hig…
The Lincoln Highway
PA's section of the Highway - the nation's first cross-country highway
The original sluceway just behind the factory that fed water to the factory from a nearby waterfall. The original stone was all hand-cut.
The Shot Factory sits inside one of the sharpest curves on any US highway. Even on a nice, clear day, you should use caution.
Opposite the Shot Factory is what appears to be an old path directly over the mountain. In fact, it is the old Forbes Road or "Great Road" that opened the west to settlers from the Philadelphia area.
This hard-to-see waterfall actually parallels the old Forbes Road and provided the original route for scaling the mountain here.
The original gas station and cabin check in for Lincoln Park. It is now owned by an orchard company.
These cabins are all that remain of the Shawnee Cabins tourist camp. Currently owned by an orchard company, the cabins are occupied in the summer by field hands who harvest the fruit.
The Union Church, founded in 1806 by the German Reformed and Lutherian congregations.
Today, US 30 goes around the area but the old Lincoln cuts right through it.
Many of the original tombstones in the cemetery have been replaced and additional information about the person added to the back of the replica.
